A huge well done to the children from Burnt Tree Primary School who recently took part in The Healthy Munchies Cooking Club and proudly delivered their very own celebration banquet for school staff.
Over the course of the club, the children developed their cooking skills, explored healthy food choices and learned how to plan and prepare dishes safely and confidently. The final celebration brought all of this learning together, giving the children the opportunity to showcase their skills in a real and meaningful way.
The junior chefs created an impressive menu, preparing a full range of starters, mains, desserts and welcome drinks. Each dish was carefully planned and made by the children, who added their own chosen flavours and ingredients to personalise the recipes and make them their own.
From menu planning to preparation and presentation, the children worked collaboratively, demonstrating teamwork, creativity and pride in their work. The banquet was not only a chance to celebrate their achievements, but also an opportunity to share healthy, home-made food with others.
Events like this highlight the power of hands-on learning. By cooking real food for a real audience, children gain confidence, practical life skills and a greater understanding of where food comes from and how it can be prepared in a healthy way.
